Staying Safe on Kakobuy: Scams, Fakes & Red Flags

A shopping agent removes a lot of risk, but not all of it. Most problems come from the seller or from acting outside the platform — not from the agent itself. Here is what to watch for.

Where the real risk is

Kakobuy buys, receives, inspects and forwards. It does not manufacture the goods, so quality and authenticity risk lives with the seller you chose. Your job is to pick good listings and use the platform's protections.

Red flags in a listing

  • Price far below everyone else — usually a quality or bait-and-switch signal.
  • No real photos or reviews — thin listings are harder to hold accountable.
  • Vague measurements — good sellers publish full cm size tables.
  • 1688 minimum-order traps — wholesale listings have MOQs; an order below the minimum is invalid. See the 1688 rules.

What inspection does — and doesn't — cover

Standard QC checks appearance, model, style and size, and shares warehouse photos. It does not verify authenticity or test electronics. Treat authenticity as your own due diligence, and buy from reputable listings. Kakobuy's anti-counterfeiting policy can also withhold or decline clearly counterfeit orders.

Avoid off-platform payment scams

Never pay a “seller” or “agent” directly outside the platform. All legitimate spending happens through your Kakobuy balance and the official checkout. Anyone asking for a wire, gift card or crypto to a personal account is a scam — not the agent.

Protect each order

  • Use QC photos before paying international freight.
  • Add Kako insurance for delay, customs-hold and loss/damage cover.
  • Keep a balance topped up so a parcel is never stuck waiting on payment.
  • Provide any required tax number so the parcel isn't returned at customs.
